Which counters?

The first house we bought had tile in the kitchen. It was fine. Our second house had Corian. I loved it! Our third house had formica that looked like Corian. It was really sturdy and a lot different than the formica in my parents' house growing up. Now we have granite. I love the granite. But if given a choice again, I'd go for the Corian.

Which do you prefer?

I found this article about it. I hadn't given it any thought, really. With granite, can't you put hot pots directly on it without needing a trivet?
