How to make my family room feel cozy?

itsmrsjonesy from * -

I live in an older house and my family room is a large room. No matter what I do with it or how I decorate it the room never really has a nice cozy feel to it. Any suggestions?

What pictures do you have on the walls? That's what makes my house feel like home to me.

My parents bought their house when I was ten months old. They still live there. The house was built in 1915, so I understand large old houses with larger rooms. Mom has a lot of personal items around and a lot of art and pictures on the walls. There were four of us and we grew up before anyone baby-proofed anything. We just knew what not to touch. So know that we know how to make safe environments for our precious little ones you can combine the two.

For me big fat furniture would make it comfortable. Like one of those oversized chairs with a huge ottoman. Especially if you have a large room you would have the space to do it. Maybe even a loveseat too would make it comfy. Lots of pillows and blankets would bring that sort of feel to it also. Then add personal touches like candles or pictures. Nothing like sitting in a big fat oversized chair on a rainy day watching movies all day with a few candles lit. Oh the life I wish I sometimes had :)

I love your ideas, Red. How wonderful. I feel comfortable and cozy just reading your description.

Hi there...

I also agree with Red, why don't you try this set in your family room. I think this cassandra lounger looks cozy with their pillows and the bright red color will absolutely be gorgeous...;)
