• DIY - Do It Yourself Marketplacefurniture-workshop - DIY - Do It Yourself Removing WallpaperWhen we bought our house there was wallpaper in the kichen. It wasn't horrible but we didn't really care for it. We wanted to paint the kichen and of couse we would have loved to just paint over the wallpaper but it wasn't that easy. We tried it because we figured if it would save us time why not at least try. It bubbled up as soon as we put it on. We soon realized that there were 2 layers of wallpaper on the walls. We had to take it off in layers. 4 layers to be exact. The front and back of each layer. We used a scroll and DIF gel spray and it came up pretty well. We have a very large kitchen so it did take some time but after all was said and done it turned out great. I am so glad we took the time to scrape each layer off, patch up the dry wall and then paint. It looks so much better. Comment #1 George from Dead Like Me - Good for you. The original owners of our first house loved maroon and green. There was maroon and green patterned wallpaper in many rooms. (Fruit in the downstairs bathroom. Fruit!) We wanted to remove it, but we were too intimidated. We should have gone for it. Oh well. It didn't stop us from buying or selling the house.
