MissCrissy from Lounging on the sofa - When DH and I moved last the movers took no care with an antique end table. I love this particular table. I've had this table since I was a teenager. I don't remember where my parents got the table. There is now a huge chunk out of one of the feet of this lovely table that I cannot put a price tag on. Comment #1 Curly from Boonies - Oh that is too bad to hear about your table. We have never had movers when we move I guess I was always afraid that something like this would happen. Do you have the piece that was broken off or no? A friend of mine, her husband, that is what he does for a living is build wood furniture. I have never had to ask him for advice but I wonder if you could find someone where you live that specializes in making wood things if they would know how to fix it. Personally that is where I would start. Depending on his price maybe you could have someone fix it for you but it is is too expensive maybe you could pick his brain on how to fix it yourself. Good Luck. Comment #2 MissCrissy from Lounging on the sofa - What a great idea, Curly. Thank you. No. The movers don't have the piece. Even when I pointed out to them that they broke the table as they were pulling it off the truck. Considering they also lost half a cat tree, two floor lamps, and a Christmas rug, it's not surprising. And this was only a cross-town move. sigh. Comment #3 Star from NY - Oh my gosh what a horrible thing that happened to you. The move was only across town and these guys managed to have all this stuff come up missing and broke an antique table? Can you imagine what you would have been missing if you moved across the country? They would have shown up and you might have had a kitchen chair. I think starting with someone that specializes in making wood furniture would be a good place to start to. Hopefully you will get the answers you are looking for and you can put your table back to the way you remember it. Comment #4 MissCrissy from Lounging on the sofa - Thank you, Star. I think I shouldn't have a hard time finding someone to restore my table to its original beauty. There are so many antique stores in the area that they should be able to steer me to what I need. I just have to wait for the moving company's claims department to look at it. I sent in my claim but I haven't heard from them yet.
